Trump claims that the US and Putin had “productive” discussions about the war in Ukraine

Talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the US-proposed ceasefire agreement in Ukraine have been hailed as “good and productive.”

This comes after the Kremlin confirmed that Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff met Thursday night in Moscow. They shared information and expressed the US’ “cautious optimism” over a peace process.

According to Trump’s Friday Truth Social post, the negotiations offered “a very good chance that this horrible, bloody war can finally come to an end.”
