The music industry is in grief when reggae legend Cocoa Tea passed away from a heart attack at a hospital in Broward, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 65 years old. Malvia Scott, the musician’s wife, told the Jamaican Gleaner that her husband had passed away on Tuesday, March 11, in Broward, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Colvin Scott has been dealing with health problems. He fought pneumonia for six months before being diagnosed with cancer in 2019.

His wife, Malvia, told the Jamaican media outlet The Gleaner that he had died after receiving a call from the facility where he was staying, informing her that he had been sent to the hospital after vomiting.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness commended Tea’s musical ability and gentle disposition.

Holness said on X, “I offer my condolences to the family, friends, and supporters of Calvin George Scott, affectionately known as Cocoa Tea.” “His captivating words and silky voice brought us immortal hits like “I Lost My Sonia” and “Rocking Dolly,” which have become cultural anthems.

Beyond his musical prowess, Cocoa Tea was a ray of compassion and goodwill. He embodied the warmth of our nation and never failed to uplift the spirits of people with low incomes. Cocoa Tea’s impact touched individuals outside our borders and cemented Jamaica’s position in the music world.

Let’s honor his remarkable legacy of empathy, music, and ethnic pride even as we grieve his departure.

I pray for eternal peace for his soul.
