Elon Musk says X targeted by ‘cyberattack’
On March 10th, X, a social media platform, experienced intermittent outages reportedly due to a critical cyberattack, as stated by its owner Elon Musk, attributed the disruption to an unusually powerful cyberattack.
“We get attacked daily, but this was done with many resources. Either a large, coordinated group or a country is involved,” Musk said in a post on X earlier Monday.
“He did not clarify what he meant by ‘a lot of resources,’ and his remarks raised doubts among cybersecurity experts. They noted that such attacks, known as denial-of-service attacks, have frequently been carried out by small groups or individuals.”

Social media platform X experienced intermittent outages, affecting 39,021 users in the U.S. at its peak at 10 a.m. ET, according to Down Detector. By 5 p.m., approximately 1,500 users still reported issues accessing the service. Musk described the attack as orchestrated by a large, coordinated group with substantial resources.
The industry source contested Musk’s statement, arguing that most malicious traffic bombarding X could be traced to IP addresses in the United States, Vietnam, Brazil and other countries. “The report highlighted that very little of this web traffic comes directly from Ukraine and is considered unimportant.
Elon Musk, who advises President Trump, criticised Ukraine’s reliance on his Starlink satellite service amid its conflict with Russia. Musk stated that Ukraine’s front line would fail without Starlink but assured he wouldn’t.
